Baba Nina

Tomato "Baba Nina" is a famous heirloom family variety originally from Omsk (from the Simikin family), highly prized by gardeners for its amazing "childhood taste," exceptional meatiness, and high yield. It is a collector's variety, with seeds passed down through generations and sold by private collectors.
Main Characteristics of the Variety
- Bush Type: Indeterminate (tall). In greenhouse conditions, it grows up to 1.6–2 meters. It requires mandatory staking/tying to a support and pruning/suckering (it is best grown with 1–2 main stems).
- Maturity: Mid-season variety.
- Fruit Characteristics: Flattish-round (oblate) shape, large, with an average weight of 300 to 700 grams (individual tomatoes on the lower clusters can reach 1 kg or more). The color of ripe fruit is a deep, rich pink or raspberry-pink.
- Flesh Quality: The flesh is of the "watermelon" type—dense, sugary on the break, very meaty, and with virtually no hollow spaces inside. The seed cavities are very small.
- Taste: Deep, intensely sweet with a light, harmonious hint of acidity. Gardeners often note that this is the gold standard for the taste of a real homegrown tomato.
- Purpose: Ideal for fresh consumption (one large tomato is enough for a family salad), as well as for making thick winter juices, sauces, pastes, and purees.
