Pink from Galina

Tomato "Pink from Galina" (Galina) is a high-yielding open-pollinated variety (not a hybrid) valued for its classic "grandma's" flavor, resilience, and unique ability to change fruit shape on a single plant.
Key Variety Features
- Appearance and Color: The fruit shape can change intriguingly on the plant, double-hearts or classic oblate beefsteaks. The color of ripe tomatoes is a rich reddish-pink or crimson-red.
- Dense Meaty Structure: Inside, the fruit is pure tomato meat — the flesh is very thick, tender, and juicy without excess wateriness. The seed cavities are small. The skin is strong, making the large fruits highly resistant to cracking.
- Weight and Yield: The variety is very large-fruited. The average weight ranges from 180 to 350 grams, but under good care, individual giants easily reach 500 grams. A single cluster can set up to 12 fruits, making the variety phenomenally productive.
- Flavor: Traditional, rich, perfectly balanced sweet old-school taste with a pronounced tomato aroma. Ideal for thick sauces, pastes, juices, and fresh salads.
Bush Characteristics and Ripening
- Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall), vigorous vine. In greenhouse conditions, it easily reaches a height of 1.8–2.0 meters and higher. Standard leaf type.
- Ripening Time: Mid-season variety with an extended harvest period. In greenhouses, harvesting continues until the autumn frosts.
Important Growing Secrets
- Pruning: Due to high vigor, it is recommended to keep the plant strictly to 2 or 3 stems. All other suckers must be removed regularly.
- Truss Protection: The variety sets such heavy fruit clusters that the stems and fruit-bearing branches can physically kink or snap under their weight. Early truss support or tying is highly recommended during the fruit development stage.
