Tomato "Rozovye krupnye ot Ninuli" (translated as Large Pink from Ninula / Rose from Ninole) is a famous heirloom family variety preserved and shared by a well-known Russian tomato enthusiast, Ninulia. Among collectors, it is regarded as a benchmark variety for pink beefsteak tomatoes, offering an incredible combination of heavy yields, resilience, and superb flavor.
Main Characteristics of the Variety
  • Bush type: Indeterminate (tall). The vines grow very robust, reaching 1.5 to 2+ meters in height both in greenhouses and the open ground. The main stem is strong, with sparse to moderate foliage.
  • Ripening period: Mid-early or mid-season. It features a very extended harvest window, continuously setting fruit from July until the first autumn frosts.
  • Yield: Outstandingly high and reliable across varying summer conditions. Clusters typically carry 3–4 heavy fruits.
  • Pruning and training: Best trained to 1–2 stems. Requires mandatory suckering, strong main staking, and auxiliary cluster support to prevent the branches from snapping under the crop weight.
Fruit Description
  • Color and shape: The tomatoes are beautifully uniform, oblate (beefsteak style) in shape, with distinct light ribbing near the stem. Fully ripe fruits display a deep, vibrant pink or crimson-pink color.
  • Weight: A heavy giant variety. The average weight is 300–600 grams, and individual fruits easily reach 700–800 grams under proper management.
  • Taste qualities: The interior is solid, dense, exceptionally meaty, juicy, and melts in the mouth. It contains very few seeds. The flavor is exceptional — intensely sweet, rich, and blessed with the unmistakable aroma of true backyard tomatoes.
  • Usage: A premium slicing variety perfect for salads. Because of its solid, meaty texture, it is also highly recommended for processing into rich juices, thick coulis, and artisanal sauces. The fruits have a remarkably good shelf life for a large heirloom variety.
