American Dream

The "American Dream" tomato is a famous, large-fruited heirloom variety known for its excellent flavor, high yield, and interesting history. According to legend, this variety was bred about 90 years ago by an American auto mechanic who crossed the best tomato varieties and became wealthy thanks to the success of the resulting strain.
Main Characteristics of the Variety
- Bush type: Indeterminate (tall). The bush grows from 1.5 to 1.8 meters high. It requires mandatory staking to a support and pruning (suckering). It is optimal to shape the plant into 2–3 stems.
- Maturity timing: Mid-season (listed as early-maturing in some sources). Suitable for cultivation in protected ground (greenhouses).
- Fruit: Large, with a beautiful oblate or heart-like shape. When fully ripe, they turn a deep, rich red color. The average fruit weight is about 300 grams, but with good care, individual specimens can reach from 700 grams up to 1 kilogram.
- Flavor qualities: The flesh is tender, fleshy (beefsteak type), very juicy, and aromatic. The taste is harmonious and sweet, with a pleasant, delicate tang in the aftertaste. The skin is quite firm, which protects the tomatoes from cracking and ensures good transportability.
- Purpose: Primarily for salads. It is ideal for fresh consumption, as well as for making juices, sauces, and summer appetizers.
