Galinas Heirloom №1
()
30-day lowest price:
Tomato "Galina's Heirloom No. 1" (also known as Galina's Heirloom) is a rare, old family heirloom tomato variety with a history spanning over 80 years. It originates from the city of Kuybyshev in the Novosibirsk region, where it was carefully passed down through generations (collectors obtained the seeds from the great-grandmother of the variety's custodian, Galina). The variety is renowned for its resilience, stable yield in any weather, and magnificent "old-fashioned" flavor.
Main Characteristics of the Variety:
- Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall), vigorous. Requires mandatory suckering (pruning) and reliable staking. Shows the best results when trained into 1–2 stems.
- Maturity: Mid-season.
- Fruit: Large and heavy, oblate, perfectly even and smooth. The average weight ranges from 300 to 600 grams, with individual giant fruits capable of reaching 800 grams.
- Color: Red, crimson-red.
- Flesh: Dense, very meaty, juicy, sugary on the break, and virtually seedless.
- Flavor: Rich, balanced, very sweet with a pleasant, refreshing tang — a classic, deep flavor of a "real tomato from childhood."
