Long Stocking

Tomato "Long Stocking" (Dlinnyj Chulok) is an original and very ornamental ultra-early semi-determinate variety. It instantly catches the eye with its unusual elongated fruit shape and festive striped pattern. The variety is highly valued for its excellent yields, growth versatility, and dense flesh.
Key Variety
- Appearance and Color: The fruits have a unique oval-elongated (pepper-like) shape with a playful, slightly sideways-tilted pointed tip. The coloration is incredibly beautiful: golden longitudinal stripes run across a rich yellow-orange background, complemented by delicate rosy-pink blushes when fully ripe.
- Dense Meaty Structure: When cut, the tomato is practically solid meat. The seed cavities are tiny, with no excess wateriness. The flesh is thick, tender, sugary, and literally melts in your mouth. The skin is firm, preventing the fruits from cracking.
- Weight and Yield: The average weight of a single fruit is 80–90 grams. The variety features high productivity — with proper care, a single plant can yield up to 5 kg of ripe tomatoes.
- Flavor and Usage: Sweet, with pleasant fruity notes. Due to their dense structure, the fruits are perfect for whole-fruit canning (looking spectacular in jars), sun-drying/dehydrating, and freezing.
Bush Characteristics and Ripening
- Plant Type and Ripening: Semi-determinate, medium-height variety. In greenhouse conditions, the plant grows up to 1.2–1.5 meters tall, becoming voluminous and densely leafed. An ultra-early variety — taking only 90–95 days from shoots to harvest, making it one of the very first to ripen in the garden.
- Pruning and Spacing: The variety is highly adaptable. It is recommended to prune and keep the plant to 3 or even up to 5 stems. It tolerates high-density planting well, allowing up to 4 plants per 1 m². Due to the abundance of heavy finger-like fruit clusters, secure staking or trellising is mandatory.
