There is no official tomato variety named "Ryzhukha". The name is most likely conditional, or a heirloom variety of "local significance" from some village. I received the seeds of this tomato as a gift.
Key Variety Features
  • Appearance and Color: The fruits are oblate (flat-round). The coloring is incredibly beautiful: golden-orange.
  • Buttery Texture: When cut, the tomato is solid meat. The seed cavities are tiny, and there are so few seeds inside that they can be difficult to collect for breeding. The texture of the flesh is dense, tender, and literally melts in your mouth.
  • Giant Weight: This variety belongs to the category of true beefsteak tomatoes. The average weight is 300–500 grams, but with cluster thinning, the lower fruits easily exceed the 700-gram mark.
Bush Characteristics and Ripening
  • Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall), with a powerful stem. In greenhouse conditions, it easily grows up to 1.8–2 meters. Standard leaf type.
  • Ripening Time: Mid-season variety (sometimes closer to late-season). It takes about 105–115 days from the first shoots to tasting. The main wave of the amazing harvest occurs in the second half of summer and early autumn.
Important Growing Secrets
  • Strict Pruning: This variety cannot be left to grow wild. To get large, fully ripe fruits, the plant must be kept strictly to 1 or a maximum of 2 stems, with all suckers removed in a timely manner.
