Tomato Variety "Ukrainian Pink Giant" (Rozovyi Gigant Ukrainskiy)
The "Ukrainian Pink Giant" variety is highly prized by gardeners for its amazing taste, huge fruit size, and a truly "sugar-like" texture when cut. This is a classic heirloom/collection indeterminate (tall) variety that requires attention to proper cultivation techniques, but fully rewards the effort with the outstanding quality of its harvest.
Detailed Characteristics of the Variety:
  • Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall-growing). It reaches 1.5–1.8 meters in open ground, and 2 meters or more in greenhouses. The stems are powerful, and the bush branches heavily.
  • Maturity Period: Mid-season (110–120 days from seedling emergence to the first ripe fruits).
  • Fruit Shape and Color: Oblate (flat-round) with distinct ribbing near the stem. When fully ripe, the tomatoes turn a deep pink-raspberry color.
  • Fruit Weight: The average weight is 300–600 grams. If you prune the blossoms and leave only 1–2 fruits per cluster, the lower tomatoes can grow into giants weighing from 800 g up to 1.5 kg.
  • Taste Profile: The flesh is multi-chambered, very juicy, and meaty (with a "watermelon-like" sugary texture when cut). The taste is sweet with a pleasant, harmonious aftertaste, and the fruits contain very few seeds.
