Minusinsk Long Pink

Tomato "Minusinsky Dlinny Rozovy" (Minusinsk Long Pink) is a rare, heirloom collection variety created by folk selection from the famous Siberian city of Minusinsk. It is highly valued by gardeners for its high yield, excellent fruit-setting even in adverse conditions, and superb sweet flavor.
Key Characteristics
- Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall, with unlimited growth). In a greenhouse, it grows between 1.8 and 2.0 meters tall. The stems are strong but require mandatory staking and regular pruning (suckering).
- Maturity Period: Mid-season (takes about 110–120 days from germination to fruiting). It features an extended fruiting period—the bush consistently sets fruit until the first frosts.
- Yield: High. Each cluster forms from 4 to 6 fruits or more.
Fruit Description
- Shape and Color: Unusual, elongated pepper-shaped fruits ("long-stretched plum") with a pointed tip (nose). The length of individual fruits can reach 15–20 cm. At maturity, they turn a beautiful, soft pink or rich raspberry-pink color with a matte or glossy finish.
- Weight: The average weight is 150–250 grams (individual large specimens can grow up to 300–350 grams).
- Flesh and Taste: The flesh is dense, fleshy ("paste" type), juicy, and contains very few seeds. The flavor is delicate and rich, with a pronounced sweetness and almost no acidity.
Growing Features
- Training: For maximum yield, it is recommended to prune and train the plant into 2–3 stems.
- Conditions: Suitable for growing both in the open ground (in southern regions) and in greenhouses (in temperate and colder climates). The variety is hardy, tolerates temperature fluctuations well, and sets fruit successfully in both hot and cool weather.
- Usage: Due to its dense flesh, this tomato is highly versatile. It is ideal for fresh salads, slicing, and making thick sauces, pastes, and ketchups. Slightly smaller fruits are perfect for whole-fruit canning—they look beautiful in jars and do not crack thanks to their firm skin.
