Tomato " Early Bull's Heart "  is an outstanding heirloom variety highly valued by gardeners for its rare combination of large fruit size and early ripening. Unlike most giant heart-shaped tomatoes, this variety is one of the very first to yield a harvest.
Key Variety Features
  • Appearance and Shape: The fruits have a beautiful, pronounced heart (sometimes slightly elongated) shape. The color of a ripe tomato is very attractive — a rich pinkish-crimson with a delicate pearlescent sheen.
  • Meaty "Watermelon" Structure: When cut, the fruit is pure tomato meat with a very tender, sugary-on-the-break structure. The seed cavities are small, very few seeds form inside, and excess watery liquid is virtually non-existent.
  • Weight and Yield: The variety produces true giant fruits for such an early timeline. The average weight of the tomatoes is 300–500 grams, and with proper cluster thinning, the lower fruits can easily reach an impressive 800 grams. The yield is consistently high.
  • Taste: Delightfully sweet, rich, with minimal acid content and a deep classic aroma of homegrown tomatoes. Perfect for fresh consumption, making juices, purees, and thick salad sauces.
Bush Characteristics and Ripening
  • Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall), yet the vine does not look overly massive — the stems are quite slender, and the leaves are thin and standard. In the open ground, it can top out at 0.8–1.0 meter, while in greenhouse conditions, it easily reaches a height of 1.6–1.8 meters.
  • Ripening Time: Early-season variety. The period from the first shoots to initial tasting takes only 85–95 days, making it unique among large-fruited oxhearts.
  • Resistance: It features excellent innate immunity to major fungal and viral tomato diseases. It copes well with mild weather stresses during short summers.
Important Growing Secrets
  • Vine Pruning: For maximum yield and large fruits, it is recommended to keep the plant to 2 or a maximum of 3 stems, ensuring all other suckers are removed regularly.
  • Reliable Trellising: Due to the massive weight of the ripening hearts, the stems and fruit trusses require secure fixation to supports to prevent kinking and damage to the plant.
  • Watering: During the fruit development stage, watering should be moderate and consistent, as an excess of moisture after a dry spell can cause the thin skin to crack.
