“Amber Honey of Altai Heather” is a popular tomato variety that arose through accidental cross-pollination of the famous “Altai Honey” tomato, bred by the well-known Latvian breeder Valdis Pulins, with another variety.
Main characteristics of the variety
- Plant type: Indeterminate (tall), reaching 1.8 to 2.0 meters in greenhouses. Requires regular removal of side shoots and tying to a support.
- Ripening time: Mid-early. Begins producing fruit in the second half of summer and continues to bear fruit steadily for a long time.
- Fruit:
- Color — golden amber with a beautiful blush. On the shoulders exposed to direct sunlight, a beautiful dark anthocyanin “cap” develops.
- Shape — large, fleshy beefsteak tomatoes. Both tall, flattened-round fruit and attractive broad, heart-shaped fruit can ripen on the same plant.
- Weight — up to 200–400 g
- Flavor — the flesh is firm, buttery, and very sweet, with very few seeds and a refined fruity aftertaste.
