The tomato “Esyk Crystal” (Esyk Crystal) is a rare collector’s variety developed through amateur or individual breeding by breeder Vitaly Gennadyevich Alifirov of Kazakhstan (the city of Esyk / Issyk in Almaty Region).
Key characteristics of the variety:
- Plant type: Indeterminate (tall-growing), reaching 170–190+ cm in height. The plant has sparse foliage with slender, delicate leaves. Training to 2–3 stems is recommended.
- Ripening time: Mid-season or medium-early.
- Fruit:
- Shape: an elongated heart with a graceful pointed tip.
- Color: bicolor, with a yellow-orange base and bright raspberry-red blush and streaks.
- Weight: 200–500 g on average; up to 500–650 g with good care and fruit thinning.
- Flesh: buttery, meaty, firm, juicy, with few seeds.
- Flavor: dessert-sweet, with almost no acidity and exotic fruity notes. The skin is thin and elastic and resists cracking.
