Tomato "Zoloto Kolchaka" (Kolchak's Gold) is a famous, high-yielding heirloom variety that has earned the recognition of gardeners thanks to its beautiful amber fruits, excellent sweet taste, and ability to continuously set clusters until the very first frosts.
Key Variety Features
  • Appearance and Shape: The fruits have a perfect plum (egg) shape. The surface of the tomatoes is smooth, glossy, and of a rich yellow-orange (sunny) color. The skin is quite dense, which prevents the tomatoes from cracking on the vines and allows them to be stored for a long time after harvest.
  • Buttery Flesh Structure: The texture of the flesh is dense, tender, buttery, and meaty. It is sugary on the break, with few seed cavities and no excess wateriness. Due to the bright orange color, the fruits are rich in carotene and are considered hypoallergenic (suitable for those allergic to red tomatoes).
  • Weight and Yield: Up to 8–10 uniform fruits can set in a single cluster. The average weight of each tomato is 100–150 grams (rare specimens on the lower clusters can reach 200–300 grams). The variety features a phenomenal yield — it sets fruit all season long without skipping clusters.
  • Taste: Very sweet, rich, with practically no acidity. It has a pleasant classic tomato aroma. Perfect for fresh salads, whole-fruit canning, sun-drying, and freezing.
Bush Characteristics and Ripening
  • Plant Type: Indeterminate (tall), powerful vine. In the open ground, it grows to about 1.5 meters, and in greenhouse conditions, it easily reaches 1.6–1.8 meters. Standard leaf type.
  • Ripening Time: Mid-season variety. Time passes from the first shoots to harvest... The fruiting period is highly extended — the tomato harvest continues until the onset of autumn frosts.
Important Growing Secrets
  • Pruning: For the variety to show maximum results, it is recommended to keep the plant strictly to 2 stems. All other suckers must be removed regularly.
  • Reliable Trellising: Due to the abundance of heavy clusters laden with "plum" tomatoes, the stems require secure fixation to a trellis or high supports
